Westfield is committed to delivering a project that ensures ease of access and minimal disruption to the surrounding area.
Westfield is determined to make the development accessible for both shoppers and residents arriving by road, rail or foot. The image above shows pedestrian routes through the proposed development to the surrounding areas.
Shepherd's Bush and White City have some of the best transport connections in London. The area benefits from four Underground stations, a railway station and many local bus routes. It is expected that most people will use public transport to get to and from Westfield's new development. Westfield will make sure this already excellent infrastructure is incorporated into the plans to increase the permeability of the transport links.
The bus station will remain in its current location and parking will be provided for the new department store, with a proportion of spaces also provided for the proposed new homes. This is in addition to the car parking spaces already provided at Westfield London. Access to the car park will remain as it is currently, from the A3220 / West Cross Route.
The area above the podium will become a pedestrianised quarter. Bus routes and service vehicles will continue to circulate under the podium. Linking into this new pedestrian quarter will be improved pathways and bridges, thereby allowing people to easily walk from nearby Shepherd's Bush, Kensington & Chelsea and Notting Hill to the White City area.
